Insurance & Financial FAQs

Yes, Orlando Speech currently accepts the insurance providers listed above. We also accept private pay patients. Private pay patients do not require insurance or a doctor’s referral.

Since insurance coverage varies greatly depending on your specific insurance plan, it is highly recommended that you call your specific insurance carrier to find out what services are covered and what out-of-pocket expense these services may be to you. You can call your insurance company to determine if private speech therapy is a covered benefit.

When you call your insurance company, be sure to have the following information available:

  • Your name, your insurance ID & Group number, and other identifying information
  • Inform them that Orlando Speech is a private speech therapy clinic. (not a hospital)

Questions You May Want To Ask:

  • Under what circumstances is speech therapy covered?
  • Are there any restrictions such as age, number of visits, etc?

In order to be in compliance with the regulations set forth by insurance companies, a doctor’s referral or prescription, also called a doctor’s “script”, is needed for us to provide a speech evaluation and speech treatment. Private pay patients do not require a doctor’s referral.

Each insurance creates its own authorization procedure, including the type of paperwork they require and the amount of speech therapy they will authorize. They may have a preset number of visits that they allow or may review each patient on a case by case basis to determine the amount of therapy that is medically necessary. Insurances typically range in their authorizations, allowing 1 time per week for 30 minutes to as much as 3 times per week for 1 hour each session. Other insurances may not authorize any speech therapy services, even if the child presents with a delay or disorder.
